A Note From Mrs. Kranz
As a reminder, the first progress note of the year went home with your child on Friday. We systematically share progress every five weeks, either via a mid-quarter progress note (such as the one you received on Friday), or via the end of quarter report card (four marking periods/quarters in our academic year). If you have questions, concerns or positive feedback for the teacher, please don't wait to engage until report cards are issued. We value timely input!
In addition to the progress note, your child may have also have brought home a note about Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) or English Language Learner (ELL) supports, should they qualify for these positive and valuable supports designed to help them meet their full learning potential at school. If you missed last week's presentation, we have several additional opportunities for you to engage, such as:
Thank you for being an important member of our learning community and for everyone's involvement & support. Here are a few highlights of how we've come together over the last two weeks:

Staying Connected through Email: At Ogden we communicate through email as much as possible. Please take a moment to sign-up for school wide communications if you have not already done so. This is very important so that you receive timely information as it relates to both grade-level specific communications, as well as school-wide communications.
CPS Calendar: Having your child in school when school is in session is critical to a successful school relationship. The most important date is the first day of school on September 3rd! The first day of school is when teachers provide opportunities to get to know one-another, community build, teach classroom routines and expectations, and set the tone for the entire school year. When students miss the first day, they are starting from a disadvantage. Please plan your vacations accordingly. Ogden follows the CPS calendar, or find by clicking calendar on cps.edu.
Attendance: At Ogden we believe good attendance is critical, and frequent absences create a loss of learning that will cause learning gaps in our young learners' foundation skills. Please only keep your child out of school if they are sick. Vacations and business trips are not excused absences. Class discussions and oral components of lessons can not be made up when students are absent from school. For guidance about attendance, please refer to this guide from CPS.
Supplies: The supply list is HERE. If you need help with supplies, please email Mrs. Kranz.
Need Before or After School Care?: If you have a need for your child to receive before or after school care, please see contact our partner Right at School. In addition, we are planning some exciting enrichment opportunities through Right at School. More information about our partner can be found here: https://rightatschool-ogden-international-school.jumbula.com/#/before-after-school.
Building an IB Mindset: Looking for ways to engage about what school will be like? If so, please see our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program overview. Using this language at home and using inquiry to guide thinking will help prepare your child for their learning adventure at Ogden.
Please let us know if you have any unanswered questions. We look forward to building a collaborative relationship with your family.
Head of East Campus
As a Primary Years Programme (PYP) International Baccalaureate (IB) school, our goal is to help students make Ogden and the world a better and more peaceful place. Our classrooms are just like communities, and we are teaching and learning about ways to best work together. To that end, each homeroom has collaboratively created essential agreements, and as a community we have behavior expectations to ensure we have common expectations. It would be helpful if you would review/reinforce these expectations with your child. Doing so helps our entire learning community. Thank you for your support!
A special thank you to our Student Council and Student Action Club Members! Thank you for your leadership!
Writing Competition Winners
Dear families of Ogden East Campus students: Please understand we expect all students to enter the building in a calm manner. If students arrive early and the doors are not yet open, we ask students to line up before entry. If large groups of students are traveling to school together, be it walking or carpooling, we ask they enter the plaza and school in an orderly fashion. Thank you to all of our families that reinforce this expectations!
