A Note From Mrs. Kranz
Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!
Below please find information that will help you plan for your child's experience at Ogden!
Homeroom/Teacher Assignments: We have a skilled team of teachers at Ogden and we are confident that no matter which classroom your child is placed within, he or she will have a wonderful opportunity to grow to their full potential both academically and socially. See here for list of teachers! Bios are HERE.
If you need to know your child's room assignment you can email Michelle Clark via email@example.com. If you require additional support for registration, please reach out to Michelle Clark for assistance.
Staying Connected through Email: At Ogden we communicate through email as much as possible. Please take a moment to sign-up for school wide communications if you have not already done so. This is very important so that you receive timely information as it relates to both grade-level specific communications, as well as school-wide communications.
CPS Calendar: Having your child in school when school is in session is critical to a successful school relationship. The most important date is the first day of school on September 3rd! The first day of school is when teachers provide opportunities to get to know one-another, community build, teach classroom routines and expectations, and set the tone for the entire school year. When students miss the first day, they are starting from a disadvantage. Please plan your vacations accordingly. Ogden follows the CPS calendar, or find by clicking calendar on cps.edu.
Attendance: At Ogden we believe good attendance is critical, and frequent absences create a loss of learning that will cause learning gaps in our young learners' foundation skills. Please only keep your child out of school if they are sick. Vacations and business trips are not excused absences. Class discussions and oral components of lessons can not be made up when students are absent from school. For guidance about attendance, please refer to this guide from CPS.
Kindergarten Orientation/Meet and Greet: The Kindergarten team is planning for an orientation meeting for parents and students on August 29th at 4:30pm. Please make every effort to attend as learning the "how to" will help make the first day as smooth as possible. If possible, please drop your child’s school supplies off at this time so you can keep your hands free for taking pictures instead of carrying supplies on the first day! There will be an all school presentation on the same day at 5:30pm!
Whole School (k-4) Curriculum Night & Supply Drop: Please join us on August 29th at 5:30pm in the gymnasium for a special presentation about what school is like at Ogden East Campus! You'll then have an opportunity to meet the teacher and visit the classroom after (plus don't forget your supplies to leave your hands free for first day pictures!). The school will close at 7:00pm.
Logistics: We will link information about pick-up/drop-off, lunch and other school day logistics shortly here. We do want to call your attention to the fact that while school starts daily at 8:30am, for the first day we plan for a gentler entrance for our newest learners by having Kindergarten arrive at 9am. Kindergarten students also arrive & dismiss (3:30pm) via the doors nearest to the cafeteria on the plaza. Starting on Wednesday, September 4th, please bring your child to the cafeteria 8:30 but you'll be able to walk your child again to the locker/classroom on day 2. After Day 2, parents may enter the cafeteria the first two weeks of school, but need to transition to dropping to the door after the 2nd week of school. Teachers will then take their students to their lockers and classrooms from the cafeteria. Please know that our teachers pick up students promptly at 8:30am from the cafeteria so please do not be late!
Parents of 1st - 4th graders may walk their child to their classroom on day 1. First grade parents may walk their child to their locker on day 2, but subsequently say good-bye at the main door after day 2. Thank you for helping us establish the routine of entry in a safe and calm manner for our students.
Supplies: The supply list is HERE. If you need help with supplies, please email Mrs. Kranz.
Need Before or After School Care?: If you have a need for your child to receive before or after school care, please see contact our partner Right at School. In addition, we are planning some exciting enrichment opportunities through Right at School. More information about our partner can be found here: https://rightatschool-ogden-international-school.jumbula.com/#/before-after-school.
Building an IB Mindset: Looking for ways to engage about what school will be like? If so, please see our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program overview. Using this language at home and using inquiry to guide thinking will help prepare your child for their learning adventure at Ogden.
Please let us know if you have any unanswered questions. We look forward to building a collaborative relationship with your family.
Head of East Campus
As a Primary Years Programme (PYP) International Baccalaureate (IB) school, our goal is to help students make Ogden and the world a better and more peaceful place. Our classrooms are just like communities, and we are teaching and learning about ways to best work together. To that end, each homeroom has collaboratively created essential agreements, and as a community we have behavior expectations to ensure we have common expectations. It would be helpful if you would review/reinforce these expectations with your child. Doing so helps our entire learning community. Thank you for your support!
A special thank you to our Student Council and Student Action Club Members! Thank you for your leadership!

Updated for Summer: School Tours >
Dear families of Ogden East Campus students: Please understand we expect all students to enter the building in a calm manner. If students arrive early and the doors are not yet open, we ask students to line up before entry. If large groups of students are traveling to school together, be it walking or carpooling, we ask they enter the plaza and school in an orderly fashion. Thank you to all of our families that reinforce this expectations!
Ogden Family! Start planning out those sharp outfits! East Campus will be hosting Picture Day, Monday, September 16th.
